David Yonggi Cho (originally referred to as Paul Yungi Cho) is a Korean Christian pastor. He is the Senior Pastor and founder of the Yoido Full Gospel Church (Assemblies of God), the largest congregation in the world who claimed to have members amounted to 830 000 people (in 2007). He was born on February 14, 1936, in Ulju-gun, which is now part of the metropolitan Ulsan.Sebagai son of Cho Doo-chun and Kim Bok-sun, David Yonggi Cho  is the eldest of five brothers and four sisters.



He graduated from high school with honors. Because the shock of his father and his business would go bankrupt, he decided not to continue their education to high school or university. Later, he entered the high school inekspensif techniques to learn the trade. At the same time, he began to enter an American army base near his school, and to learn English from the soldiers who become friends. He understands English quickly, and became an interpreter for the commander of the army base, and also to the principal.

Initially raised as a Buddhist, David Yonggi Cho converted to Christianity at the age of 17 years, after the girl visited him every day and tell about Jesus Christ, after he was diagnosed with tuberculosis. Believe that God has called him to the ministry,David Yonggi Cho began working as a translator for the British evangelist Ken Tize. In 1956, Heia get a scholarship to study theology at the Evangelical Bible College Full in Seoul. There, he met Choi Ja-Shil (최자 실), who became the mother-in-law and those who are bound by the ministry. He graduated in March 1958.

On May 1958, David Yonggi Cho did his first service at his friend's house, Choi Ja-Shil. Only Choi and three children who enter the ministry, but then the church is growing and has 50 members. David Yonggi Cho and his church members began a campaign of knocking on doors and invite people to come to church, and three years later, the number of members in the church rose to four hundred people
